How are companies preparing their welding technology to face a digital future? How can they optimise their processes with Industry 4.0 in mind? At the Schweissen & Schneiden trade fair in Düsseldorf, EWM AG will provide all the answers in hall 10, stand A60. In keeping with the slogan “Welding 4.0”, the company will present the latest generation of MIG/MAG welding machines for efficient and innovative welding processes. To this end, enhanced ewm Xnet quality management software performs the complete analysis and management of data produced in the welding process. EWM has also introduced new functionality to the software in the form of digital component management. The opening of the trade fair will coincide with the presentations of the fifth EWM Award, a project aimed at promoting young scientists which carries prize money of 30,000 euros.

EWM will offer trade visitors their first glimpse of a completely new machine concept. Germany’s largest manufacturer of arc welding technology will thereby underline the importance of digitalisation and Industry 4.0 in the optimisation of welding processes. The trend-setting MIG/MAG welding system promises maximum flexibility, while the new generation of machines is aimed at manual, mechanised and automated welding processes. Alongside high efficiency and a high duty cycle, sustainability was the main consideration for EWM in the development of established digital inverter technology. Customers will benefit not just from the high quality standard they have come to expect, but also from very long-lasting components that make for a highly secure, future-proof investment. EWM has redesigned a clear control unit for the new machine series which promises welders faster and simple access to all the main machine settings. Interested visitors to the trade fair will be able to see the new welding system and other technological innovations for themselves thanks to a live demonstration at the EWM stand.

ewm Xnet and the EWM Award

In terms of quality management in the welding process, the latest version of the ewm Xnet software performs full analysis, monitoring and management of the data produced – a key prerequisite in the context of Industry 4.0. Other features include the WPQ Manager (which supports the simple creation, management and allocation of welding procedure specifications) and digital component management, which incorporates all key welding information. ewm Xnet is platform-independent and may be installed on mobile devices. Another highlight of the event will be the presentation of the EWM Award, which carries prize money of 30,000 euros. By conferring the promotional award every other year in partnership with the German Welding Association (DVS), EWM actively supports the implementation of creative ideas from up-and-coming scientists undertaking research into the welding process. The prize is presented as part of the supporting programme for the official opening of the Schweissen & Schneiden event.
