VDM® FM 780

VDM® FM 780

VDM® FM 780 is a newly developed age-hardenable nickel-cobalt-chromium alloy. The hardenability is achieved by adding niobium, titanium and aluminium. Compared to VDM® FM 718, VDM® FM 780 is characterised by a higher application temperature (up to 750 °C possible) and a high high-temperature oxidation resistance. The mechanical strength of the weld metal as well as the ductility are superior to the filler metal VDM® FM 718.

VDM® FM 699 XA

VDM® FM 699 XA

VDM® FM 699 XA contains approx. 29 wt.% chromium and 2.1 wt.% aluminium and is very resistant to metal dusting in carburising and reducing atmospheres. In addition, the high chromium and aluminium content is also particularly effective for high resistance in oxidising atmospheres at elevated temperatures. The aluminium content further increases the high-temperature strength of the material by precipitating the γ'-phase at temperatures up to about 800 °C. VDM® FM 699 XA is used for joint welding of VDM® Alloy 699 XA as well as some nickel-chromium alloys and for build-up welding of steels.

VDM® FM 825 CTP

VDM® FM 825 CTP

VDM® FM 825 CTP is a further development of the standard welding filler material VDM® FM 825 (FM 65 Ni). In contrast to this, VDM® FM 825 CTP is very resistant to hot cracking during welding. welding. VDM® FM 825 CTP is therefore particularly suitable for build-up welding using the TIG (hot wire and cold wire) or the MSG process. VDM® FM 825 CTP is also used for the VDM® Alloy 825 CTP, which is used for applications such as offshore piping applications such as offshore pipelines, seawater-cooled heat exchangers, control pipelines or capillary tubes. Since VDM® FM 825 CTP has a high resistance to pitting and and crevice corrosion as well as chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking in combination with a high hot resistance to hot cracking, VDM® FM 825 CTP is particularly suitable for the weld cladding of of carbon steel pipes, bends, fittings, flanges, valves, etc. for the oil and gas industry or the chemical industry. chemical industry.

Company profile

For over 90 years, VDM has been developing and producing materials for demanding applications. Our nickel alloys as well as our special stainless steels are indispensable for the industrial-scale implementation and safe control of advanced processes in key technologies - whether in aerospace, automotive, or the chemical and oil and gas industries. VDM Metals materials resist high mechanical, thermal and chemical stresses - in some cases all three that once. Our alloys are available as strip, bar, powder, sheet and plate, wire, and in many cases also as matching welding material.

VDM Metals offers its  wide product range of welding consumables – as weld wire, strip electrodes, strip for flux cored wire and core wire. . Our product range is completed by consulting services and training opportunities that we offer our customers in our welding lab.

Welding fillers and welding strips are available in the following forms and dimensions:

  • Wire electrodes and welding wires in diameters of 0.6 to 3.2 mm
  • Welding rods in diameters from 1.6 to 4 mm
  • Core wires in diameters from 2 to 5 mm
  • Welding strips for weld cladding, mostly 0.5 mm thick

Packaging options:

  • Wires on standardized spools, as special spools or in various barrel types, as well as strips in coils and rods in quivers.

Quality standards:

  • Narrow tolerance fluctuations in alloying elements and in  dimensions
  • Setting of optimized cast and helix values for  a smooth wire transport in automated welding processes
  • Optimum preparation of raw stocks for clean and fault-free surfaces.
