At the Essen trade show, Scansonic will showcase its latest innovations in laser welding, brazing, and cutting. The focus lies on processing optics and sensor systems for demanding joining tasks, particularly involving complex geometries.
A highlight is the enhanced ALO4 optics family, designed for laser brazing and welding with filler wire and tactile seam tracking. Several variants have been developed for different types of joints, such as those in battery case production. These enable wider connection cross-sections for improved seam strength, access to deep seam areas, and – newly added – vertical welding of corner joints. This optics range covers all typical joining tasks in battery box assembly.
Also on display is Scansonic’s latest innovation: the SCW (Safe Component Welding) optics, compliant with Laser Class 1. It enables laser welding without a protective cell, reducing investment costs and increasing flexibility in production environments.
The SCW is based on Scansonic’s advanced FCW (Fast Component Welding) technology, originally developed for electromobility. Multiple compact scanner units are mounted on a process-specific carrier plate, allowing large components to be processed in one pass or several smaller parts simultaneously – ideal for high-throughput operations and long seams.
Together with development partner Metrolux, Scansonic will also present new sensor technologies for seam tracking in automated welding, brazing, and adhesive applications – for both arc and laser processes. Making its debut is the FH6D-Advanced sensor series for seam finding. These sensors accurately detect seam start and end points, ensuring precise robot positioning even with component tolerances. This makes them ideal for entry-level automation. The system will be demonstrated live on a robot at the booth.
The new series complements Scansonic’s existing portfolio of optical seam tracking sensors, which guide robots precisely along the edge of the component during processing.
